TippingpointLabs.com: New Look, More Changes to Come Brett Virmalo

We approach many interactive design problems just like we approach content creation. We create, distribute, analyze and adjust. We’ve rapidly designed and developed this version of our site based on what we’ve learned through the design template that we’ve been running for the last few months.

Brett,
The site looks great! Thanks for helping it evolve. One big question from a functionality stand point – where’s the search? That’s something I use very very often…
Thanks,
Andrew
Thanks, Drew. We’re working on search – It has been acting erratically so we’re taking a look at why. Hope to have in back up in a couple days.
If your desperate to search TPL in the meantime, I suggest a Google site-specific search e.g. Twitter site:blog.tippingpointlabs.com
Brett,
Thanks so much for the google site-specific link. Couple more suggestions:

Looks like the sidebar breaks… I guess that’s a factor of scribd being too big perhaps…
Also, are the links to individual contributor pages (i.e. the Author’s bio) coming back soon?
I think it helps gives readers context.
Thanks,
Drew
Yes, contributor pages are on the list.
We’ve got a fairly long list of improvements, and prioritizing is always a challenge – the most important are rarely the most exciting. A number of standard blog interface functions top the list: author pages, search, tag archives, etc.
The sidebar has been funny from page to post to post, which we’ve experienced with wordpress in the past. We’re looking into it. Thanks for the heads-up.
enjoying all the articles but not sure with the layout that I’m seeing everything available: you have recent posts and related posts but I’m looking for a more global listing of ALL posts. Maybe I’m just not seeing it. Great content.
Ah–ok I get it now. I came in your site through the back door via a link and hadn’t seen the categorized listings. Making more sense, but the list of available categories is so encompassing I’d still like to be able to browse by everything available- maybe as simple as a category menu?
really good writing and food for thought – I just fed you into my feedly faves:-)!
one suggestion is to put the iTunes podcast subscription link at the top of the podcast list…it’s good to have the All Content link, but I want my programs in iTunes, and their search is still not the best.
Terri,
Thanks so much for your suggestion. We have a new Footer and homepage releasing very soon and I think we’ll have to incorporate the iTunes idea!
So appreciate your feedback and your time.
See you in Feedly! :)

Way better! Let me repeat, way better. I really disliked to previous text centric version, too sterile looking.
I think you should keep this new design for at least a week, maybe longer…..

Sherm!
Thanks so much for checking it out. It’s constantly evolving!
Next time you’re in Boston – stop in!
I’m personally not a big fan of the minimalistic look in general. As for the new design, it’s not bad, but it could be better.
I will say that showing all 500 post excerpts on the blog index page isn’t too appealing. Scrolling down for ever is not something I want to do, I’m sure there are others that don’t either. You should show 10 or 15 per page, at most in my opinion.
Good content here though :)
